Umhlanga’s Main Beach will play host to a three part Surf Series arranged by Wave Wizards Surf Club to celebrate its 30th year. Formed in 1984, Wave Wizards is amongst the country’s longest running surf clubs and has a rich history of producing SA Champions and ISA World Champs.
Chris Knutsen celebrated his 4th ISA World Masters title in 2013.
The Fun Surf Series has some epic prizes up for grabs and is open to anyone who wishes to enter, so whether you’re a weekend warrior down the South Coast or an underground shredder up in Zululand you can enter and win. The name of the game is FUN!

WAVE WIZARDS SURF CLUB FUN SURF SERIES
Calling all KZN surfers young and old from Grade 0 to the Grandfathers, there are fantastic prizes to be won at the upcoming Wave Wizards Surf Series.
Umhlanga Rocks based surf club, Wave Wizards is 30 years-old and is celebrating with a three part Surf Series. The events will take place over three weekends starting on Sunday 14 September, with the second on 19 October and the final event on 30 November 2014.
The series is all about FUN and FAMILY, and we encourage everyone to enter simply to be part of the action. So bring all your friends and family down to Umhlanga’s Main Beach for a day of fun in the sun.
Surfers from all clubs are welcome to enter, whether you’re on the South Coast or from Zululand. Age divisions start from ‘Wave Rats’, which is our beginner/novice division open to any age group as long as you have never entered a competition before. In both the Girls and Boys divisions, we will have Under 14, Under 18, Open and Masters (35+). Cost is only R50 per entry and there are great prizes to be won for various categories.
Club Chairman Jestyn Viljoen said: “We are really excited about getting this fun series going and we will follow it up with a big prizegiving at the end of the year to celebrate the club’s 30 year history. We also welcome Lizzard Surfwear as our new sponsors together with Hurricane Surf. Our aim is to encourage the really small kids to take part just for the experience and also to get all the old club surfers back to have a social time enjoying our beautiful Umhlanga Beach.”
