For all the keen photographers, videographers, surf, ocean, film and popcorn lovers – it’s time for you to indulge in Durban’s annual salty cinema goodness. The 11th Wavescape Festival is back this June and the line-up is packed with 21 diverse surf films for you to get square eyes for.
Wavescape (which forms part of the Durban International Film Festival) kicks off again this year, in its classic cinema-under-the-stars-style on Sunday 19 June on the Bay of Plenty lawns at 7pm. If 21 top surf films and an outdoor-cinema at the beach isn’t festive enough for you, get this: it’s free. Yip – mahala, complimentary, on the house, gratis i.e. keep the wallet padlocked.
All you need to do is tuck that picnic blanket under your pit, pack the treats, pick your patch and snuggle up to your fellow surfers to watch some epic films from the comfort of your own beach.
Preceding the Bay of Plenty screening on 19 June, Wavescape films will be running for five days from Monday 20 June to Friday 24 June at the Rivertown Beerhall between 18h00 and 20h00. Wavescape has announced the Rivertown Beerhall as its new screening venue and we’re stoked it’s a little closer to the beach! Cheers Musgrave, hello Rivertown Beer Hall.
Tickets are the price of just two Overport beans bunny’s – R30 a pop. So start saving for the audio-visual feast and check out the films featuring below.
