Having previously settled for slotting the office GoPro into my backpack, with the accessories spread between a multitude of zips, boxes and drawers, it was pretty refreshing to look at a professional, compact and sturdy case like the Thule Legend GoPro Advanced Case.

The case is perfect for storing and transporting your GoPro camera and all the accessories that go with it. Upon closer inspection, the first thing that stands out is the look and feel of the case’s robust exterior. Crushproof and padded, it’s built for longevity. Boasting a zip with teeth that run around the case like a pair of train tracks, it’s no wonder the case comes standard with a 25 year warranty. But metaphors and hyperbole aside, it’s a practical and convenient piece of equipment that’ I’d recommend for a number of reasons, as I’ll explain, to any avid GoPro user.

The inside has a removable die-cut foam pad, which makes the case a lot easier to be cleaned after a mission outdoors. Other than the height, it’s about the same size or smaller than your average laptop and still capable of holding two cameras with plenty of extra space for accessories such as; flex clamp’s, LCD backpacks, remote controls, extra batteries and SD cards.
Watch the bag in action as professional base-jumper, Matthias Giraud, takes it for a test run.
Nowadays the latest GoPro (4 black edition) shoots at 4K as well as 2.7K at a higher frame rate (60fps), and HD (720P) at 240fps for slow motion that’s unheard of for a camera of its size. With these specs the GoPro is fast becoming a vital tool for enthusiasts and professionals alike, and retailing at a round R7995.00 per camera (without all the accessories), it’s important to keep it properly protected.
VERDICT: Retailing from around R600 (US$ 59.95), it’s not cheap but it’s worth the buy for anyone planning on using their GoPro on a regular basis, and a must have for professionals transporting gear to and from outdoor locations.

The removable foam padding, making the cleaning process shap-shap!

ABOUT THE ZAG REVIEW:
The Zag Review is an independent editorial feature on surfing hard goods, ranging the full spectrum from boards and wetsuits to tide watches and travel bags. None of the reviews are paid for by advertisers or part of an advertising deal, and we retain the right to give honest, critical feedback that is in the interest of our readers. The product is reviewed by Zag staff and everyday surfers who rip, not pros who are paid to endorse the goods. We test the gear for a minimum period of two weeks (and a month for boards) to give you comprehensive feedback for the surfing layman. We know that surfboards are not a “one size fits all solution” and different surfers prefer different aspects on a board according to how they surf, even if they are the same weight and height. In the case of surfboard reviews, we’ve made sure to seek feedback from at least three different surfers to get well-rounded input.
Contact us here if there is a particular product you’d like to see reviewed and we will do our best to make it happen.
