A potentially dangerous situation ended harmlessly at Salt Rock on the KZN north coast, after lifeguards lost control of their rescue duck while attempting to navigate through the surf. The unmanned duck then shredded a couple roundhouse cutbacks, full throttle, back to the beach.
Thankfully nobody was hurt, but questions are being raised as to why the engine was not fitted with a cut-off switch.
The incident was filmed on Friday, 13 December, by a surfer shortly after a session in the bumpy conditions.
