Both Jake ‘the Snake’ Patterson and former Kommetjie homeboy, Damien ‘Dooma’ Fahrenfort, have been booted from the commentary booth at the Quiksilver Pro France.
ASP tour manager Renato Hickel informed the duo that their commentary services were no longer required, after the controversial Joel Parkinson / Marc Lacomare heat.
Dooma and Snake were jokingly betting beers on the outcome of the heat, suggesting that the judges would give the nod to Parko during the closing moments of the controversial Round 2 match-up thanks to “world title bonus points”.
Hickel called Jake and Dooma’s commentary “a stain on a great webcast”.

I remember this and didn’t make much of it at the time, but it’s absolutely right… one cannot undermine the judges at the event.

Don’t get me wrong – I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary… especially with the pulsing swell which left a flat spells that needing filling in.

Bronson, you r wrong bru.. Commentators are there to service the audience and should call it as it is, irrespective of the ref, or in this case, judges decision. Hats off to Dooma and Snake for keeping it real.
Since when do commentators get the boot for “undermining the judges”, rugby commentators say way worse about the refs when they make the wrong calls, and I don’t see them getting fired. The ASP has their fingers too deep in the media side of things. There should be a independent media reporting company or something that can say what needs to be said and speak for the masses and keep shit down to earth for the viewers and not be so corporate and iron fist about the sport. That Hickle dingleberry or what ever his name is sounds like a childish spoiled kid. He should be fired.

Sorry to hear about Snake as he does a good job. Dooma is worthless and needed to get the boot anyway. Hats off to Rosie who has vastly improved. Shaun the prawn looks great for near 60.
This is why I stopped watching the webcasts since the Trestles event. The ASP judging is ridonculously inconsistent.
