Competitors were welcomed by playful three foot waves at Zippers for the opening day of the 6-Star Los Cabos Open of Surf in Mexico, and a handful of Saffa WQS warriors did battle on Day 1.

Unfortunately Slade Prestwich, Dylan Lightfoot and David Van Zyl all lost out in tough Round 1 encounters, while Mikey February was the sole Saffa advancing on the opening Day. Mikey finished just 0,02 points behind Californian, Chris Ward, to advance in second place from Heat 12.

Mikey February did enough in his Round 1 heat at the Los Cabos Open of Surf to advance.

Courtesy of a higher seeding, Beyrick De Vries and Dale Staples will start their event directly in Round 2, where they will be joined by M-Feb. Beyrick in particular will be hoping for another great result in Mexico, after his runner-up finish at the Los Cabos Open of Surf in 2013 boosted him up the WQS rankings.
