Lefts vs Rights – The Monster Energy Pitstop Battle Begins

There’s a battle going on at monsterpits.co.za; Lefts vs Rights*. Entries for the June leg of the Monster Energy Pitstop in association with O’Neill, Vestal, Skullcandy and Neff have started barrelling in, and it’s going to be tough to pick a winner.

LR
Who’ll be taking this year’s Pitstop title?

Last year the Lefts took top honours, with Benji Brand’s ridiculous Nam tube chosen as the ‘Pit of the Year’ in the 2014 Monster Pitstop. But the Rights have started this season strong with a number of excellent entries by Kate Lovemore-Baker. Like this of hubby Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker at work in KZN:

Shaun Hague also entered some incredible east coast Rights into this month’s leg. One of Matt Bromley and this real monster pit by Casey Grant:

The Lefts however have last year’s winner, Benji Brand, on their side, and of course, one of the craziest waves on the planet as its champion. Kai Linder shot this clip of Benji going missing for long moments in Namibia:

The first leg of the Monster Energy Pitstop closes at the end of June. After that the winner of this month’s leg will be announced and become the first contender in the ‘Pit of the Year’ final, where it will be in with a chance of claiming the grand prize worth over R30 000**. Each leg’s winning clip will also receive a hamper from O’Neill valued at R5000 (for the surfer), while the person who filmed it will receive epic prizes*** from sponsors Vestal, Neff and Skullcandy valued at over R5000.

The public vote counts for 50% of the final decision, and you can go to monsterpits.co.za and vote for your favourite. It’s going to be an epic monthly battle until 31 October, when entries close and the five leg winners will go head-to-head for ‘Pit of the Year’.
