Invitees to the 2013 Kalk Bay Shootout woke up with their hopes diminished this morning, after a thick SE swell that was predicted to klap Cape Town on Friday changed its course, and is now approaching from the west – according to the forecast.
Some had their eyes firmly set on the shallow strip of reef overlooked by the Brass Bell, and were waxing-up in preparation for the barrel-riding duel to decide the champ of K-Bay on Friday.
The SW swell is still predicted to whack the Peninsula in the 4m-plus range, so while it won’t be ideal for The Reef, organisers are still hoping that it will offer some caves for the invitees to get stuck inside.
Eyes are peeled, and a call will be made on Friday.
