A convincing quarter-final win against 2013 ASP World Tour runner-up, Tyler Wright from Australia, has booked Bianca Buitendag a spot in the semi-finals of the Roxy Pro Gold Coast.
Bianca in action during the quarter finals.
With a career best equal third at the Colgate Plax Rio Pro in Brazil last year, Bianca will be looking to go one or two steps further by beating the USA’s Lakey Peterson and advancing to the finals, where she will face either 4-times world champ, Steph Gilmore from Australia, or 2-time champ, Hawaii’s Carissa Moore.
Lakey Peterson has shown excellent form so far, ending the quarter finals as the top scorer.
Competitors in the Roxy Pro Gold Coast look like they’ve used the off-season well, and have come into the 2014 WCT season looking sharper than ever. Swap the bikini bottoms for a pair of boardies and you would be forgiven for thinking that you were watching the dudes battle it out at Snapper Rocks (if you were viewing the event on a low quality feed, which often happens depending on your internet speed in some parts of SA). They’ve been ripping that hard, and a lot of the competitors in the Men’s division could probably do with the focus their feminine counterparts have been showing.
If you’re not feeling too macho, go check out the heat review for Carissa Moore’s Round 3 heat.
Only four heats were surfed at Snappers today, with Round 3 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast yet to get underway. So we’re still waiting for Travis Logie’s match-up with Taj Burrow in Round 3 Heat 1.

Go Saffa!!!
So cool to watch her smash it …like she is at home free surfing Vic bay.
Clever heat strategy .
Lets see how far she can take it.
An event win would be super.
